Position Summary

As Financial Performance Director, you will hold a critical role in the Client & Network Pricing team’s success in achieving our financial goals. You will own the analysis of the Client & Network Pricing P&L and related aspects of our financial performance, using this to deliver key insights and deliverables to the team, Finance and other internal partners, and Sr. leadership. You will lead a team of 1-2 individual contributors as well as employ a strong matrix leadership approach to accomplish your goals.

You will make an impact by:

  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive view of our financial performance for Client & Network Pricing, including historical performance and future projection

  • Combined view including client pricing guarantees, pharmacy-side pricing guarantees / economics, adjudicated margin, and other elements such as fees, credits, etc.

  • Incorporate the estimated impact of known and anticipated pricing management activities, marketplace events, and other relevant information

  • Using this comprehensive view to support three key job functions: Key partner to our PBM FP&A team, responsible for:

  • Monthly accruals for client pricing guarantees

  • In-depth explanation and supporting analysis around variances (vs. budget/forecast, month-to-month, etc.)

  • Development of budget and forecast

  • Audit / SOX compliance support

  • Other inputs required for Finance & Accounting

  • Enabling the effectiveness of the Client & Network Pricing team in meeting financial goals:

  • Lead the creation and maintenance of performance dashboarding and other Business Intelligence, at both a client and BOB level, capturing historical and projected pricing performance, profitability, as well as initiative tracking. Establish appropriate processes for usage by the team

  • On an ongoing basis throughout the year, understand the current performance on committed financial initiatives, partner with peers on the team to identify potentials risks and opportunities, and maintain an execution plan through the end of the year that will ensure targets are met

  • In many cases another individual on the team will be primarily responsible for execution, but you will own tracking and understanding this plan, and ensuing that we always have a known and delineated path to achieve our financial goals

  • Provide critical insights to the leadership team, including:

  • Executive communication and messaging

  • Presentation of financial results

  • Risk, opportunity, and scenario analysis

  • Support to critical Enterprise projects involving Networks or Client pricing

  • Ensuring that the appropriate tools and processes—financial, operational, and technology-related—that support the above are created and maintained. This is expected to require a high degree of matrix leadership. As needed, you will work with key partners such as Data Science, Data Engineering, Pricing Ops, Network Ops, Software Engineering etc. to understand key requirements and drive completion of necessary development

  • Ensuring an intensive focus on accuracy and QC throughout the full process, building from individual client performance and contract data to overall rollup of financial results

  • Going beyond simply providing the numbers, to developing a deep understanding of the numbers, what they mean, what is driving them, and what levers exist to change them

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years financial acumen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of PBM network economics strongly preferred

  • Strong leadership ability including excellent matrix leadership skills

  • Excellent relationship building and collaboration skills

  • Strong analytic and data skills, and ability to use data & analytics to uncover root causes and drive decision-making

  • Fluency with Data Science concepts such as optimization

  • Exceptional judgement, including comfort in making recommendations to leadership even when operating with incomplete data or in the “grey area”

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,500.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
