Position Summary:

Primary responsibilities include direct supervision of assigned Health, Safety & Environmental Managers, ensuring their success, developing a superior workforce, meeting department goals, and provide oversight and direction. In addition, monitoring and managing HSE regulatory compliance for all CVS Health facilities. The HSE Sr. Manager will be responsible for communications with regulatory agencies and will develop regulatory strategies specific to agency requirements. The HSE Senior Manager will partner and collaborate with corporate HSE and Legal team. The HSE Senior Manager position will interact Supply Chain, and Logistic Leadership teams to address compliance needs. This position will also independently research regulatory requirements, identify necessary changes to regulatory compliance programs, and proactively initiate steps to roll out changes associated with new or updated regulations and address compliance trends. The HSE Senior Manager will utilize project management skills to initiate, develop, and drive compliance related projects to ensure completion. The HSE Senior Manager will have in-depth knowledge of major federal, state, local & environmental regulations and their applicability to sites within each business unit. As needed, this position will support HSE programs by providing field assistance to all CVS Health facilities, including independently conducting regulatory compliance training.

This position is based out of our LaHabra Distribution Center.

Responsibilities include:

  • Utilize Behavior Based Safety Program to create a strong proactive safety-first culture.

  • Provide solution-based feedback to address behavioral opportunities, hazard recognition programs, building assessments, and gap analysis.

  • Take an active role in Gemba walks, leading the HSE initiative of continuous improvement.

  • SME for all HSE related Kaizen events and chair the Safety Task Force meetings.

  • Provide strong leadership and proactive involvement in all leadership meetings, incorporating a one team approach to business success and colleague safety.

  • Champion the powered industrial truck training and certification program.

  • Actively review all internal HSE KPI’s and reports and direct initiatives and improvement strategies accordingly.

  • Manage all incident and injury investigations and educate site leadership to ensure appropriate root cause analysis, and hierarchy of controls are in place.

  • Be a trailblazer, ensuring stretching- warm up sessions are effectively conducted pre-shift, and evaluated for improvement.

    Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years related experience in Health, Safety and Environment

    Knowledge of:

  • Federal and state Safety and Environmental Regulations

  • Safety & Environmental Management Systems

  • Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or Distribution Center Operations

  • Ergonomics in the workplace with emphasis on reducing the number and severity of MSDs. Review and recommendation of equipment design, intended to maximize productivity by reducing operator fatigue and discomfort.

  • Microsoft Office Applications

  • Virtual Conferencing Applications

    Skill In:

  • Drafting and conducting personnel performance reviews

  • Communicating with regulatory agencies

  • Critical thinking and problem solving

    Ability To:

  • Create cross-functional working relationships.

  • Implement safety & environmental compliance programs.

  • Influence without authority

  • Analyze data.

  • Manage a team of subject matter experts.

  • Present written materials and must be extremely comfortable speaking in public settings, in person and virtually.

    Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (HS Diploma and 4 years of experience) required

Certified Safety Professional (preferred)

Yellow Belt in Six Sigma or greater (preferred)

First Aid, CPR, AED (preferred)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$79,200.00 - $174,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
