This Senior Database Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automated solutions for managing and optimizing databases within an organization. This role combines expertise in database technologies, programming, and automation to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of database systems. The best fit will have an automation first skillset within a database technology context.

Key Responsibilities:

· Designing, developing and maintain automated solutions for database deployment, configuration, backup and recovery, monitoring and performance tuning

· Collaborating with software development teams to integrate database automation process into the software development cycle

· Implementing and maintain database automation frameworks, tools, and scrips to streamline database operations and enhance efficiency

· Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the database environment and proposing innovative solutions

· Troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, developers, and network engineers

· Ensuring high availability and performance of production databased through effective automation strategies and monitoring techniques

· Implementing and maintain database security controls and best practices to protect sensitive data

· Conducting regular performance analysis and capacity planning to optimize database resources

· Documenting database automation process, procedures and configuration to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance with organization standards

· Keeping up to date with the latest industry trends and advancement in database automation technologies

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation tasks

• 3+ years of experience with database automation frameworks and tools like Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Chef

• 3+ years of experience with source code management tools like GitHub, GitLab

• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD orchestration tool like Jenkins, GitHub Action

• 3+ years of experience in database architecture, replication, clustering, and high availability concepts

• 3+ years in proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role, with a focus on automation

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL

• Familiarity with cloud-based database technologies and platforms such as Microsoft Azure SQL database or Google Cloud SQL

• Strong knowledge of database concepts, principles and technologies (e.g. relational databases, MS SQL Server, Azure SQL)

• Understanding of DevOps practices and experiences with CI/CD pipelines

• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues

• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams

• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality database automation solutions

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (High School Diploma and 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$97,335.00 - $201,900.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
