Position Summary

CVS Health Real-World Evidence (RWE) organization provides analytical and advisory services that meet the market and clinical challenges faced by pharmaceutical, biotech, and device companies. Our services use real world data, advanced technologies, and professional know-how to illuminate therapeutic and economic value. We offer collaborative resources across CVS to promote research into real-world outcomes.

The mission of the CVS Health RWE Safety Surveillance & Collaboration (SS&C) team is to actively monitor the US public health in collaboration with Food and Drug Administration (FDA), academic institutions, and other health insurance companies. The SS&C team conducts safety surveillance, observational research, and medical chart review validations using the FDA Sentinel Common Data Model (SCDM), Sentinel and Distributed Research Network (DRN) tools, Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) CDM, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Initiative (PCORI) CDM, and Aetna’s Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).

This position will lead a team of Analytic professionals responsible for transformation of healthcare insurance and pharmacy data into distributed analytic models used in safety surveillance and collaborative research (SS&C).

The role will be responsible for:

  • Directing accurate transformation of health insurance enrollment and claims, and pharmacy dispensing data into industry Common Data Models (CDM) such as Sentinel and OMOP.

  • Overseeing delivery of accurate distributed results and reports to clients within the contractually mandated timelines.

  • Assisting the Executive Director, with strategic planning related to the CDM maintenance, CDM expanded use, and SS&C growth.

  • Supervising analytic, informatics, and data engineering staff and consultants.

  • Establishing, fostering, and growing a dedicated team including hiring, obtaining consultant or vendors to meet revenue and scientific team objectives, and assuring team meets all CVS and contractual training requirements.

  • Representing CTS in meetings with external customers.

To be a candidate you will possess the following:

  • Understanding of US health care system, data flows, SAS / SQL programming.

  • Expertise in quality assurance including:

  • Ability to use research question/concept to QA SAS programming code.

  • Use of multiple techniques to assure SAS programming quality and error-free results and report accuracy.

  • Proven history of managing people.

  • Technical support and guidance skills.

  • Deliver projects and results on-time.

  • Demonstrated work behaviors include:

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of ETL or healthcare analytics experience of Sentinel, BEST, and/or PCORI distributed research.

  • 10+ years of healthcare data management and/or health care claims analytics.

  • 10+ years of SAS experience.

  • 5+ years of management experience of professional analytical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in turning research or business question into programming specifications.

  • Strong collaborative attitude and desire to improve healthcare.

  • Experience in management of distributed team across multi-time zones/a distributed workplace.

  • Understanding of HIPAA, and person/participant healthcare privacy.

  • CVS / Aetna experience.

  • Experience with DB2, UNIX, SQL, GoogleCloud, Quickbase, Salesforce, Smartsheet or other project management software.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, healthcare, public health, analytics or similar field.

  • Advanced degree preferred (Master's, PhD, MD).

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $288,400.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
